Water Baptism
For New Water Baptism Candidates:
We believe that baptism, the total immersion of a believer in water, symbolizes the believer's acceptance of the finished work of Christ on Calvary's cross. Baptism testifies of the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Our Ministerial Staff counsels candidates and ensures that baptism candidates understand the decision they are making.
Water Baptism is scheduled to accommodate the volume of candidates. Please notify membership support service for more information.

Christian Education
"The church must teach or die" is an old adage that reminds us that the Christian faith may always be only one generation away from extinction. In its ministry of education, the congregation is able to fulfill its ancient commission to teach persons in this generation the understandings, traditions, faith, and life-styles of the Christian community (Matthew 28:19-20).

At the same time, the demands of the gospel are very personal. The message of the Christian gospel is for each person living here and now. Christian education is essential to the nurturing of persons in the knowledge and understanding of what it means to be a Christian in today's world. Church education has the unique responsibility of enabling Christians to know the faith they profess and to respond to that faith by living in a deliberate manner as God's people, as those who make decisions and act in the light of their beliefs.

Music Ministry
Psalm 100 commands us to make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Music is a powerful form of expression. Not only does it communicate thoughts and ideas, but it also conveys emotions and feelings. Additionally, it has tremendous "persistence". If not properly effective, it could produce useless noise. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal (1 Corinthians 13:1). The purpose of the Music Ministry is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through song, encourage believers in their walk with Christ, lead the congregation in worship and provide an avenue through which individuals may share their gift and be an integral part of the worship. And David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy (1 Chronicles 15:16).
Fine Arts Ministry
At First Community Church we are surrounded by highly symbolic works of art that point our minds and our hearts toward our Creator and Savior. Beautiful in themselves, these works are an inherent part of community worship, inspiring and enhancing our appreciation of the glory of God. Because of its creative nature, art is truly a reflection of God’s creative spirit. Through the creation and the perception of beauty, we praise and celebrate the creative power of God. Art is, in this respect, an aspect of worship. Our ministry consists of dance, drama, and a use of Art: oils, watercolors, collage, woodwork, quilting, pottery, sculpture, photography, and most any other medium.
